We take abuse seriously in our book lists. Only flag lists that clearly need our attention. As a general rule we do not censor any content on the site. The only content we will consider removing is spam, slanderous attacks on other members, or extremely offensive content eg. We will not remove any content for bad language alone, or for being critical of a book.

Being in the bestsellers list means that the book was appreciated by the readers. So, this puts doubt on what you mean by "unappreciated". May 25, AM.

Well, some of them might have been on here before they were well-known since the list was made in But yeah, some are ridiculous. That was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Persuasion is considered a classic and Jane Austen is most certainly a household name. I like the idea for the list, but I wish people read the description and knew how to vote. There's another list called Really Underrated Books where a book only qualifies as "underrated" if it has fewer than 1, ratings here on GR.
Not a single one of the top 25 books of this list would make the cut on that other one and all in all, only 23 of the first books on this list -- i. Indeed, eight of the first ten books on this list wouldn't even make the cut for inclusion in the companion list to the above-mentioned one, "Moderately Underrated Books" , where a book only qualifies if it has fewer than 10, GR ratings. And all in all, on that particular list, only 38 of the first books on this one here -- i. The number of GR ratings certainly isn't ALL it comes down to in determining whether a given book is getting all the attention we feel it should be due -- but in addition to things such as book awards and sales figures, they sure are a useful criterion; at least operating on the assumption that "rating" a book means I've read it and am rating it in order to share with others on GR whether I would or would not recommend the book or I've at least placed it on my "to read" shelf, which I think qualifies as a "rating" by GR standards as well, and at a minimum indicates some level of awareness and interest in the book.
And looking at it from the opposite direction, virtually all of the top books of this list are actually at or near the top of the lists for the ! So yes, currently this list or at a minimum a good portion of its very first page arguably looks pretty much like the opposite of what one would expect to find in a list of "unappreciated" books. The question is what, if anything, can or should be done about that.
Jade, you created the list in the first place Is this what you had in mind when you first created the list? May 26, AM. Agree with you! Aug 11, AM. Katty wrote: "Well, some of them might have been on here before they were well-known since the list was made in Persuasion is c Sep 27, AM. Nov 19, PM. Many of the books on this list do not seem under appreciated to me, they have been read by nearly everyone! I only added or voted for books that I thought were excellent but that don't seem to have been read by anyone I know. Apr 02, AM. I fully agree with Lobstergirl.
The first thing I noticed when I started browsing the list is that there are so many well-known titles on it and all with very high ratings. That hardly qualifies as 'unappreciated' in my book.
